Developing a Daily Writing Habit

developing a daily writing habit for creativity and personal growth

Creative writing is something that’s been significantly lacking in my life in the past 5 years. Ever since leaving full time education studying English, I’ve had no real reason to write for any length of time. In fact, having previously been a beauty blogger, the only writing I did was a quick summary review of the latest lipstick I’d bought. Not that there’s anything wrong with that at all, but as someone who best expresses their emotions, thoughts and ideas through written word, I really ought to write more.

In 2016, I started my weekly letter series for my email community. It’s completely free to sign up – you will receive a note in your inbox every Monday morning with a thought relating to self-care, personal growth, health or any other life ‘stuff’ that’s on my mind!

With having a regularly scheduled letter to write to people comes the need for consistency. I’ve really started to grab a thought or idea when it comes to me, and set aside time to get that thought fleshed out on paper or type it up in Evernote.

Now 2017 is here, I thought it was a perfect New Year’s Resolution to set for myself – write something, every single day. Whether it’s a weekly letter, a blogpost (like this one!), or even just ideas and notes for future writing.

I’m really hoping this new habit will create space for me to:

  • Develop my ‘voice’ as a writer
  • Get out of my comfort zone
  • Allow me to be vulnerable and open with my community – connecting with them on a deeper level
  • & Explore and discuss ideas and topics that are important to me

In today’s video, I’m discussing this new goal I’ve set for myself, along with some practical tips I’ve learnt so far if you’re interested in developing a daily writing for yourself.

I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you tomorrow night with another post!

Love, Kat x
