Capsule Wardrobe - New Pieces Added

2016 has been the year of the capsule wardrobe for me. I went shopping once in January, stocked my wardrobe with some basics that were missing, and haven't looked back since.

I have to admit, I did get a bit bored in Summer time when I felt like my wardrobe was a bit too restrictive for the warm weather. Note to self - invest in some seasonal pieces for next year, so when a heat wave hits you don't have to pack away half of your wardrobe!

However, Autumn is really my favourite time of year for fashion, and the season that best fits my personal style. So I thought it was about time I did a little update, and shared some recent additions to my A/W wardrobe.

H&M Khaki Shirt

The Khaki Shirt (H&M)

Khaki has been on my radar for a while, as a colour I really wanted to add in my wardrobe. I think Khaki is a great staple in your colour palette for Autumn, especially if your blonde. Its a neutral without being too boring to look at, so it fit in really well with my (90% monochrome) wardrobe. This shirt from H&M is a beautiful soft material, so has a really nice relaxed, feminine feel to it. I need more khaki in my life!

I have one of my gorgeous friends and clients to thank for these next pieces, as she was doing a bit of a clear out (and sale shopping) so wanted me to look at some of the items she was selling on from that.

The first two were lacking in my wardrobe and I'd been thinking about for a while, and the third was a fun addition that I would never have picked in the shop myself - but once on I actually love and know I'll get loads of wear from. Those items we stumble upon like that are my favourite!

New Look Navy Blouse

The Navy Blouse (New Look)

I always have time for more shirts/blouses in my life, if you can't tell already. I always like to teeter on the edge between smart/casual and slightly androgynous, so I find a good shirt so versatile and one of those things I can throw on and feel like myself in.

Navy, again, is a pretty neutral that has a bit more intrigue than my usual 'all black everything' approach. Not only is the colour flattering, but I also love the neck line - anything low cut showing my collar bone is a win - my top half is definitely my slimmest, so allowing some of that area to show (emphasis on some) visibly removes about 5 pounds from me instantly.

Very Black Jumpsuit

The Black Jumpsuit (Very)

I love a good jumpsuit. This one is much more dressy than my current one, whilst still being really simple and under stated. Dress it up or dress it down, they are so flattering and easy to style. I imagine I will be wearing this one a lot for work - smart-casual, all black and most importantly, comfortable.

New Look Cold Shoulder Jumper Dress

The Cold Shoulder Jumper Dress (New Look)

This is the fun, surprise item I would never have picked myself in store. But I love it! Again, the cut is flattering for the top half, and the fit hugs your shoulders comfortably, so you don't have to constantly be hitching it up. I'm sure once Winter hits I will definitely be complaining about my cold shoulders (!), but nothing a nice thick scarf and coat can't fix.
